Employment Preparation & Externship

At the conclusion of your studies at National Career College in Los Angeles, you will be offered a medical externship opportunity at a doctor’s office or other health care clinic. This opportunity gives students a chance to apply their medical assisting education in a supervised setting. Common tasks include front desk work, setting up appointments, assisting the doctor, administering medication, talking with patients, and filing paperwork.
In your clinical externship, you will be able to observe firsthand the inner workings of a medical facility. You will be offered guidance in basic tasks, with the opportunity to discuss, evaluate, ask questions, and learn.
This employment preparation will make you ready to start your new career and increase the likelihood of finding a medical assistant job. In some occasions, externships can lead directly to employment, but it is not guaranteed.
